+ Why choose ‘City of Sails Marine’?

Here are four things that make boat brokers worth their salt:

1. Experience

First - any great boat broker should have prior experience and proven results in the competitive world of boat sales. The multi-million dollar industry revolves around a small percentage of the population, and everyone knows almost everyone within this tight-knit sector. Look around and compare those brokers achieving results, who is excelling and why; that way you can be confident you are securing a broker who will get results.

Experience, integrity, in-depth knowledge of the industry and a love of boats is an imperative to providing valuable insights and professional assistance to buyers and sellers. We know the industry, we know the market and we know how to get results.

2. Global reach and personal contact

Boat buyers live throughout New Zealand - and all over the world. The boats themselves can also be spread out across the globe. That's why we work wih a team of brokers throughout New Zealand and in overseas boating centres who are in direct contact with their buyers and sellers and can brng the parties together to list the boat, then conclude the sale.

3. Digital services and promotion

Never before has it been so important for marketers to offer their products online. We find that buyers in every every demographic are now very familiar with offering products and services online, so we're continually improving our digital marketing and promotion to make it easy for them to find what they want. We use varous websites, social media and communicaitons tools including our huge customer base to market the boat to the appropriate audience.

Next step is to inspect the boat, and we'll help ensure it's the right boat for them. If so, our experience and friendly and informative approach takes buyer and seller through the essential Buy/Sell process.
It's vital for us as sales representatives that our digital marketing strategy is well-structured and captivating – otherwise, we risk loosing listings and business overall.

4. Passion

As with any leisure activity, boating is driven by individuals that are truly passionate about being on the water, whether it's for sporting, recreation, competition or just mucking about in boats. Any boat broker worth their weight in gold will share the same passion. If you are unsure of which broker to use, look no further. The team at City of Sails Marine are all of this and some. You won’t get better service nor more genuine want for you to achieve the best results than this. We live for everything boating - we are sailors - mind, body and soul.

Don’t believe us? Find out for yourself - give us a call, we won’t let you down.

+ Our marketing approach

  • We reach more potential buyers by going to the place they spend their time online! How? Easy! …. By simply leveraging the most successful marketing platforms on the planet.

  • Expanding the online component of a marketing campaign generates much more exposure for your property. More exposure creates more interest. Greater interest can impact the price along with the time it takes to achieve this.

  • Traditional portals work well, but many potential buyers (passive buyers) are not looking at these sites. Up to 18% of boats are bought by people who were not actively looking, but instead came across a boat of interest online, in the newspaper, on a signboard or simply from word of mouth.

  • The average person will spend 20+ hours each week on social media, browsing the internet and visiting websites promoted by Google ads. By promoting your boat using our customised marketing packages, we will reach potential buyers where they spend the majority of their online time.

Did you know?

  • Google search for "Boats for sale in NZ" is growing 3% per year

  • New Zealanders spend over 10 hours per week online

  • 2 Million+ Kiwis use social media every day

The proof is in the stats - expand your marketing and you will reach the passive buyer.

Why delay? Talk to one of our experienced brokers today, about the best marketing approach for your boat. Together, we can sell your boat.

+ What is involved?

At ‘City of Sails Marine’ we make the buying or selling of your boat much easier - it can sometimes be a lengthy and difficult process…

There is a lot of work involved in selling a boat. More than most of us realise until we attempt to do so ourselves. The team here at 'City of Sails Marine' take the hassle out of it for you.... We filter out the ‘mussel kickers'.

Here’s the simplified version of what we do:

  • We list your boat and promote it on our website and a number of other boat sales sites. Your boat will also feature in our regular advertising in Boating New Zealand magazine plus any other agreed media suitable to your type of vessel.

  • Our sales director will visit you and your boat. We agree on the terms and conditions of the sale process (including specifications and inventory), take first-class pictures of her, and show buyers your vessel, all at no cost to you until we sell.

  • We charge a commission at an agreed and competitive rate on the gross sale price reached for your boat, plus GST.

  • When we receive an offer, City of Sails Marine Brokers will negotiate on the seller’s behalf with all parties on the price and any conditions agreed, such as the need for a sea trial, and/or a survey of the boat above and below water. The buyer then deposits a minimum of 10% of the agreed sale price into the City of sails Marine Trust Account. The Vendor generally pays the cost of haulout and return so that the surveyor can fully check the hull and all equipment.

  • Upon satisfaction of all necessary checks as per the agreement signed by both parties, the balance is paid. The vendor receives the full sale amount less the agreed commission payable to ‘City of Sails Marine’. The ownership of the boat is transferred and the sale is complete.

  • We are well aware that not all boats are the same. Sometimes particularly fine or unusual boats require specially prepared promotions and marketing package. We can recommend and develop a suitable campaign customised to suit, ensuring that the vessel is properly promoted to specialist or foreign markets. Enquire online or call us now for more information or advice on specialist vessels.

  • We meet you on the boat, arrange photography, together we ensure your boat is presented at its very best, throughout both New Zealand and international markets.

  • We list your used vessel across multiple boat sales websites including:

    City of Sails Marine

    NZ Boat Sales

    TradeMe

    Northland Brokers

    SeaBoats

    Yachtworld

  • We also utilize various other promotional channels eg: social media, blog posts & print marketing. We have the ability to extend marketing channels to include exclusive print or digital publications should the campaign demand such as: RNZYS Breeze magazine.
A more extended marketing program may incur additional cost - but only by agreement with the vendor.
