The vessel has two decks with the engineering and tankage below the hull deck line with the bulk of the accommodation on the main deck. The vessel has a raised wheelhouse aft of amidships. The engine rooms are compact and are under the aft cockpit deck. Very carefully and regularly maintained.

The vessel was designed Teknicraft Design as a dedicated Multi Mission SAR Vessel and was built by Q-West Boat Builders in Whanganui, New Zealand, to Maritime New Zealand Survey and delivered in January 2015. She is constructed of welded Sealium aluminium alloy construction on formed aluminium frames, stringers and fore and aft girders. The decks and cabins structures are also all-welded marine grade aluminium. There are 2 traverse water-tight bulkheads throughout each of the two hulls. Integral tankage is forward of the engine room bulkhead. The exterior aluminium surfaces have either been covered with stick-on plastic film and decals or left to oxidise.

Foam filled Hypalon tubes are utilized as fendering on the hull topsides.
